August 5 declared as a special Non-Working Holiday

The entire country is in mourning when the favorite and most adored president that our country has ever had passed away on Saturday morning at 3:18 AM. This August 5 would be the day of her private funeral and the president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo had declared it as a special non-working holiday so that the Filipinos can all be witnesses to this moment as our beloved former president Corazon “Cory” Aquino would be put to rest at her final resting place beside her late husband Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, Jr. at the Manila Memorial Park.

On August 5, 2009, there will be a mass at 9 in the morning at the Manila Cathedral before the former president’s burial.  The president is also cutting short her trip to the United States and will leave the country to get to pay her respect at the funeral service. GMA will be leaving today. She also declared under the Proclamation # 1850 that there will be a 10-day period for national mourning starting August 1 to August 10 over President Corazon “Cory” Aquino’s death.

As of the moment, the body of the former president is at the La Salle Green Hills gym in Mandaluyong and people can come and wait in line to have a chance to pay their respect to our beloved former President. You can come and view our beloved Cory for the last time. The schedule of open viewing will end at 4 a.m. Monday.
