Cheche Lazaro, the host of the show Probe which airs every Wednesday on ABS-CBN as well as a replay on weekends at ANC had to post bail worth P12,000 for a wiretapping case after receiving the arrest warrant. Cheche said the case is just mind boggling and is plainly to harass her and other journalists.

The case is in relation to the episode of Probe last November 12, 1008 that is about the underpaid public school teachers who are also being deprived of their benefits from GSIS. Cheche Lazaro had a phone conversation with Ella Valencerina, the vice president of GSIS and used some parts of that phone conversation on her show. Ella Valencerina said that she was not informed that the phone conversation is being recorded but contrary to what she is saying, Cheche Lazaro said that she actually knows about it and that she also knows that portions of their conversations would be aired on her show.

Lazaro said that her show will not be intimidated by this and she just hopes that they would have hired private lawyers and not government lawyers who are also from GSIS and gets their salaries from the same teachers who were having questionable policies and from other taxpayers.

Meanwhile, Malacañang promises to monitor the case of Lazaro but guarantees that they are not behind the issue.
