Several bishops in the Philippines are pushing for the sainthood of Mrs. Corazon “Cory” Aquino as they believe that if Cory would become saint, it would deeply encourage the Filipinos to follow her example and start to be good. Anyone can be a saint said Archbishop Precioso Cantillas. He said that the president, Cory Aquino, had lived a “saintly life” and she is definitely qualified to be a saint. Other bishops and several other groups are also supporting the said proposal to push for her sainthood.Archbishop Ramon Arguelles said that she is definitely a saint as she is definitely a saint although the sainthood is a process that takes a long time. It’s the Vatican who first verifies if the person had made 2 miracles before he/she can be considered a saint.

It is not yet certain, of course, if she will be declared as a saint by the Vatican but in the hearts and in the minds of the Filipino people, Corazon “Cory” Aquino had lived a life that is so perfect to be an example to everyone that we, too, could make a difference and fight the oppressors and be loved by many for not allowing greediness to prosper. She stepped down from office and was really not interested with the power she had as President but was only interested to fight for our democracy. Corazon “Cory” Aquino is truly the saint of People Power as said by Ramon Arguelles.
