Cory was laid to rest

Corazon “Cory” Aquino was laid to rest yesterday at the Manila Memorial Park just right beside her husband, Ninoy Aquino’s grave. It was a very emotional moment from the Manila Cathedral to the procession of her grave which lasts about 7 hours up to the time that her body was laid to rest.

Corazon “Cory” Aquino was remembered during the eulogy and everybody was so emotional that no eyes were left dry after the ceremony at the Manila Cathedral. Kris Aquino’s eulogy was very emotional indeed. She said that she lied to her mother just so she could finally rest and be with their dad when she said that she and her siblings and families will be okay but according to Kris, it will take them a lifetime to be okay without their mother being there anymore. She said that Ballsy, her sister, will no longer have their mom with her as she would leave the office. Her sister Pinky have lost her prayer partner, her sister Viel will no longer have someone to admire the simplicity of the life of her family and her brother Noynoy will no longer have his campaigner who had helped him in the 4 times that he had ran for office on elections.  For Kris, she said she had lost the woman who would always text her during her launching to say good luck and to say congratulations and I am proud of you at the end of the show.

The year-long battle of Cory Aquino with colon cancer has finally ended and it left the entire nation mourning for her loss. We did lose a leader, she did not only govern us when she was president but she led us by being a good example and she continued to lead our country even when she was no longer the most powerful woman of our country.  With her great attitude towards life and devotion to Mama Mary and the unbelievable strength she showed us when she continued the fight of her husband who was killed at the airport, it’s no longer a question that our nation feel the pain of losing somebody as if she was a part of their family. Most of us are not privileged to have seen her in real life but even on TV we feel like we already know her and can never thank her enough for her legacy and what she did to our country.  She is an unbelievable woman and for the 76 years of her life, she led our country non-stop and we look up to her and we follow her every advice. She does not dictate but she gives us advices with regards to morality.

Thousands of people walked in the 7-hour procession just to pay respect to the lost leader.  Thousands more waited for the procession so they could get a glimpse of the coffin that carries our beloved President.  Millions of Filipinos watch on TV and cry at their homes and grieve for our loss.  Her family is so blessed to have her in their lives but the Filipinos are really blessed to have been led by a woman like her. She and her husband Ninoy had made such a big impact to our country. She gave us back our democracy and no thank you’s will ever be enough to thank them for what they did for our country. Cory loved the Philippines so much and she also believes, just like Ninoy, that the Filipinos are indeed worth dying for.

She may have lived a full life, she may have been contented with the life she had but the Filipinos will forever miss her and wish that she had more time because we still need her to lead us. We are still not a perfect country, our politicians are still corrupt but even in death she opened our eyes and made us realize and recall again what they had fought for. We should continue her fight for democracy and for freedom from filthy politicians. It is now our turn to continue that fight as a way to thank her and Ninoy. Let us continue our fight starting with ourselves. Let us make Cory as a great example and live a life just the way she had lived hers.
