freddieFreddie Aguilar had clarified his remark about our singers who act like monkeys that became very controversial and struck a cord on these singers such as Arnel Pineda, Charice Pempengco and even Gary Valenciano.

Freddie Aguilar said that he only said that Filipinos are being called as monkeys because we tend to copy the songs and styles of many international artists. Even Mariah Carey likened the Filipinos to monkeys.

Freddie also said that he did not mention the name of Arnel Pineda but only mentioned Gary Valenciano and even Regine Velasquez but the question that was thrown to Freddie was about Charice Pempengco. But that doesn’t mean he has anything against Charice or other singers but he was just voicing out his own opinion regarding the matter. He was asked for his opinion and that’s just what he threw the interviewer.

Freddie Aguilar also added that the question is not about why he called them monkeys but why they are singing foreign songs instead of Filipino songs.  He also said that it is their own doing why they are being called as monkeys because they just tend to copy.
