Gibo for President Volunteer Center Launched

At the beginning of the official campaign period, Gibo Teodoro supporters came rushing through the scene, expressing their support for the “man in green.” People have seen the true potential of former Defense chief and are projected as the next leader of the country. Why not? He has the wits and an excellent platform of government that is truly impressive compared to the records of some candidates running for presidency.

The Filipino people has generated groups to promote the candidacy of Gibo Teodoro in the upcoming 2010 May elections. From different corners of the Philippines, Gibo has a pack of supporters to back him up until voting day comes. One of the newest group organized for Gibo was recently established in Iloilo City.

Various volunteer groups in Iloilo City backing Gibo’s candidacy, motivated to merge forces to guarantee the triumph of Lakas Kampi CMD standard bearer in the May presidential elections. Gibo stopped by Iloilo City and launched the Gibo for President Volunteer Center in Jaro district, where he was accepted whole-heartedly and warmly by Governor Sally Perez Zaldivar, Passi City Mayor Jessry Palmares, former Iloilo Gov. Sim Grino, and retired Assistant City Chief Prosecutor Jose Naranjo, who is founder-chairman of the Volunteer Center.

The Assistant City Chief Prosecutor said that since Gibo’s visit the other day, the 24-hour hotlines of the Volunteer Center have been flooded with calls from people and organizations presenting help and support.

“The center has helped consolidate all the good feeling about Gibo in the province,” he explained. “We’re getting calls from all over, from people who normally don’t involve themselves in politics, who want to volunteer their time and effort for free.”

Zaldivar is one of more than 30 governors and mayors from all over the Visayas who acknowledged in separate manifestos their full and solid support for Gibo’s presidential endeavor, during an affair hosted by Cebu Gov. Gwen Garcia in Argao, Cebu.

A large number of 300 bikers, members of the local Volkswagen Club, and supporters escorted Gibo in a motorcade from the Iloilo airport to Jaro City. Gibo attended the birthday celebration of Palmares at the Kawilihan resort and  another one at the Parish Jubilee Center that was swarmed by more than 2,000 citizens.

Gibo also stopped by and chatted with nearly 3,000 students at the Central Philippine University (CPU), according to Naranjo.

“There’s a tremendous hunger for Gibo here in Iloilo,” observed Naranjo. “Everybody’s interested about him, and seeing him up close, hearing him talk, has virtually converted many voters here.”
