First H1N1 death in Asia is a Filipina

The first death involving the A(H1N1) virus had been confirmed in the Philippines and is the first death in Asia. It’s a 49 year old woman who had died from her congestive heart failure but was also tested to be positive with the pandemic virus.

The heart disease of the patient was only aggravated by severe pneumonia and had only shown signs of the virus 2 days before she died on June 19.

Swine Flu Cases Still On the Rise

From 1, 2 and now up to 14 victims of Swine Flu A(H1N1) virus in the Philippines. We’ve been proud for not having the virus in our country after many countries already reported several cases with some having mortalities. Since the first child that was reported to have gotten the virus, it just kept increasing by numbers.

2nd A(H1/N1) Victim

The A(H1/N1) virus has a second victim here in the Philippines. It’s a 50-year-old woman whose identity and nationality is still withheld had contacted the virus. She arrived from Chicago last Wednesday and the day later she suffered from symptoms like mild fever and headache then she immediately went to the hospital.

Alert of the pandemic, she is then tested and was treated with Tamiflu which is an antiviral drug that is used to treat swine flu victims and she seems to be recovering quite well in a hospital.  11 of her relatives were advised not to leave their house so they would see if they also would develop the symptoms.
